President Gordon B. Hinckley observed his 87th birthday Monday, June 23, in his office taking care of Church matters, and spending the evening with family members.

During the day, his associates in the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve held a brief social for him in his office, said Don LeFevre of Church Public Affairs."In the evening, he was a guest at a family gathering at the home of one of his daughters in Salt Lake City," said Brother LeFevre.

President Hinckley asked the Church News to express his deep appreciation to the many members who sent birthday greetings from throughout the world. He received so many he is unable to respond personally to each one.
