Don H. Hendricks, 72, Blackfoot 5th Ward, Blackfoot Idaho Stake, called as president of the Papeete Tahiti Temple, succeeding Pres. John S. Morgan. Pres. Hendricks' wife, Betty Ann Pruhs Hendricks, will serve as temple matron.
Pres. Hendricks served as temple president's counselor, temple sealer and ordinance worker, high councilor, bishop's counselor, stake Explorer adviser and Scoutmaster. A retired estimator for Westinghouse Electric Corp., Naval Reactors Facility, he attended Idaho State University. He was born in Marysville, Idaho, to John Harlow and Thelma Egbert Hendricks.Sister Hendricks is a former assistant temple matron, ward Relief Society president, stake and ward Primary leader, stake and ward Sunday School board member, ward building librarian and stake missionary. She attended Pasadena Junior College. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Parley Allen and Anna Leona Squire Pruhs.
Owen Drew Jacobsen, 66, Oak Hills 9th Ward, Provo Utah Oak Hills Stake, called as president of the Dallas Texas Temple, succeeding Pres. Richard J. Bassett. Pres. Jacobsen's wife, Joyce Whiteley Jacobsen, will serve as temple matron.
Pres. Jacobsen served as president of the Florida Jacksonville Mission from 1992-95, regional representative, stake president and bishop. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Utah and was manager of systems support for IBM. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Andrew Thomas and Edith Virginia Budd Jacobsen.
Sister Jacobsen served as president, counselor, secretary and instructor in the Relief Society, and president, counselor and teacher in Primary. She received a bachelor's degree from BYU. She was born in Oakley, Idaho, to Joseph Earl and Amanda Elizabeth Beck Whiteley.
Elder Dean L. Larsen, 71, Green Valley 4th Ward, St. George Utah Green Valley Stake, called as president of the Provo Temple, succeeding Pres. Robert J. Smith. Elder Larsen's wife, Geneal Johnson Larsen, will serve as temple matron.
Elder Larsen is a former member of the Presidency of the Seventy and of the First Quorum of the Seventy from 1976-93. He served as president of the Texas South Mission, regional representative, Sunday School general board member, secretary of the adult Correlation Committee and Priesthood Missionary Committee. He received a bachelor's degree from Utah State University. He was born in Hyrum, Utah, to Edgar Niels and Gertrude Prouse Larsen.
Sister Larsen served as ward Relief Society president, ward Young Women president, ward Primary president's counselor and stake Primary board member. She was born in Ashton, Idaho, to Otto H. and Rosella Salisbury Johnson.
Charles Kenneth Powrie, 76, Gold Reef Ward, Johannesburg South Africa Stake, called as president of the Johannesburg South Africa Temple, succeeding Pres. Laurence Bundy-Palmer. Pres. Powrie's wife, Anna Maria Basson Powrie, will serve as temple matron.
Pres. Powrie, currently first counselor in the Johannesburg South Africa Temple presidency, served as temple president's counselor, mission president's counselor, district president and stake patriarch. He is a retired accounting and business executive. He was born in Lydenburg, South Africa, to Kenneth Oldham and Winifred Enid Dryden Powrie.
Sister Powrie served as mission, stake, district and ward Relief Society president, Primary president's counselor, Sunday School secretary and Relief Society instructor. She was born to Jacobus J. and Hester M.A. Du Plessis Basson.
L. Blaine Vorwaller, 66, Jacksonville 2nd Ward, Jacksonville Florida East Stake, called as president of the Orlando Florida Stake, succeeding Pres. Kenneth L Zabriskie. Pres. Vorwaller's wife, Joyce Bedenbaugh Vorwaller, will serve as temple matron.
Pres. Vorwaller, first counselor in the Orlando Florida Temple presidency, was a temple sealer, regional representative, mission president's counselor, stake president, stake president's counselor, and served a full-time mission with his wife in the West Indies Mission. He received a bachelor's degree from BYU, and is retired administrator for the state of Florida.
Sister Vorwaller served as assistant temple matron, Young Women president, stake Relief Society board member and held various music positions. She served with her husband in the West Indies Mission. She received a bachelor's degree from BYU, and was born in Jacksonville, Fla., to Frank W. and Emma Douberley Bedenbaugh.
J. Marlan Walker, 69, Mission Hills Ward, Henderson Nevada Black Mountain Stake, called as president of the Lima Peru Temple, succeeding Pres. Jorge M. Leano R. Pres. Walker's wife, Colleen Heaton Walker, will serve as temple matron.
Pres. Walker, currently first counselor in the Las Vegas Nevada Temple presidency, served as president of the North Mexico Mission, stake president, stake president's counselor, mission president's counselor, bishop and branch president. A retired educator, he received a bachelor's degree from the University of the Americas in Mexico, and master's and doctor's degrees from BYU. He was born in Hurricane, Utah, to Clause D. and Hazel Workman Walker.
Sister Walker is a former Relief Society president and Young Women president's counselor. She was born in Hurricane, Utah, to J. Linden and Phyllis Webb Heaton.
