For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things. If not so, . . . righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness, nor misery, neither good nor bad. Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound in one; wherefore, if it should be one body it must needs remain as dead, having no life neither death, nor corruption nor incorruption, happiness nor misery, neither sense nor insensibility. - 2 Ne. 2:11.
"As you build your lives in obedience to the gospel and strive to achieve your goals, do not become discouraged by temporary setbacks and disappointments," Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin of the Quorum of the Twelve counseled at the April 1994 general conference.
"Remember, that `it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things.' You will grow and learn by overcoming obstacles. The Lord has admonished all of us to `keep [His] commandments and endure to the end.' (D&C 14:7.)"
" . . . You can be obedient. You can defeat Satan and overcome temptation. . . . The Lord does not expect anything of you that you cannot do."
