Elder David E. Sorensen of the Presidency of the Seventy
Sister Susan L. Warner of the Primary General Presidency
- As if to balance "an increase and profound sense of existential despair in the world," as Elder Neal A. Maxwell said in his address, several speakers during the Sunday morning session emphasized the good and beautiful of the world and life. Among those was Elder Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of the Twelve who said: "Life is beautiful when you make the effort to find beauty in it."
Two selections by the Tabernacle Choir included hymns written by members of the First Presidency, including "My Redeemer Lives," written by President Gordon B. Hinckley, and "This Is the Christ," written by President James E. Faust. Other selections by the choir included: "Guide Us, O Thou Great Jehovah," "Let Zion in Her Beauty Rise," "A Child's Prayer" and "O Thou Kind and Gracious Father." Craig Jessop directed the choir. Clay Christiansen accompanied on the organ.
President Gordon B. Hinckley conducted the session. Elder Quentin L. Cook offered the invocation. Elder Ned B. Roueche offered the benediction. Both are members of the Seventy.
