"The prophets of the past have recorded their revelations," said Elder Boyd K. Packer of the Quorum of the Twelve during the 1974 April general conference. "And together with the sacred history that surrounds their being given they constitute the scriptures. The Bible is, of course, the best known example. In the Church we do something that very few do any more: We read the Bible.
