Four sons and a son-in-law of B. Clair and Wanda Johnson are currently serving as bishops, and another served previously.
Brother Johnson, a former bishop himself, also served as counselor and president of the Boise Idaho Temple from 1984-1990, regional representative and stake president in Boise. Sister Johnson has served many years in the Relief Society. The Johnsons, who recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary, are members of the Hillcrest 4th Ward, American Fork Utah Hillcrest Stake, and now serve as workers in the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple.Their first son to serve as bishop was Richard Johnson, who was called to preside over the Lakeridge 7th Ward, Orem Utah Lakeridge Stake, in 1993. He was released in 1997. Next was Douglas Meacham, a son-in-law, who was called in January 1995 to serve in the American Fork 23rd Ward, American Fork Utah Hillcrest Stake. Then came Robert Johnson, sustained as bishop of the Kennesaw Mountain Ward, Powder Springs Georgia Stake, in 1996. He was followed by Barry Johnson, called as bishop of the Prairie 7th Ward, West Jordan Utah Prairie Stake, in April 1997. Next came Edward Johnson, sustained as bishop of the Verdugo Hills 2nd Ward, La Crescenta California Stake, in 1998.
Finally, Jerold C. Johnson was sustained bishop of the Orem Park 6th Ward, Orem Utah Park Stake, in 1999.
Brother Johnson said while he doesn't remember doing anything special to prepare his sons for such callings, "I did try to set an example and we encouraged them in scripture reading every morning."
