Dec. 31 — New Year's Eve Gala: First Night. Several musical groups performing from 5:30 p.m. at the Assembly Hall and Joseph Smith Memorial Building. A detailed schedule of groups performing, including site location and times of performances, is available at information and hostess desks throughout Temple Square or by calling 801-240-3323. Free admission.

Dec. 31 — First Night for Youth, Ryan Shupe and the RubberBand will headline an exciting evening for youth on New Year's Eve in the Conference Center Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. and will conclude at 11:00 p.m. Tickets are sold out. Standby lines are encouraged.

Ongoing — "Joseph Smith The Prophet of the Restoration," a film showing events in the life of Joseph Smith from his early youth in Vermont to his martyrdom in Illinois at age 38, will be shown in the Legacy Theater at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Free admission (www.lds.org/events; 1-866-537-8457, toll-free in the U.S.; 570-0080, greater Salt Lake City area). There will be no standby lines.

Through Jan. 15, 2006 — Museum of Church History and Art exhibit: "Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration," featuring historical documents, works of art, period artifacts and media presentations that show how Joseph was prepared to fulfill his calling as the prophet of the Restoration. Museum Hours: Mondays-Fridays, 9 a.m.-9 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays and most holidays, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. 45 N. West Temple. Free admission.
