The First Presidency has called Archie O. Egbert to serve as president
of the Missionary Training Center in Colombia. He and his wife, Mary Ann,
will be trained at the Provo Missionary Training Center Jan. 11-15, and
will begin their two-year term of service following their training.
Archie O. Egbert, 67, has served as president of the Chile Vina del Mar Mission, and as an area executive secretary, high councilor, bishop and teacher. He has served as a chaplain in the U.S. Army Reserve, and has been an area director, country director and director of instruction in the Church Educational System. He was born in Midvale, Utah, to Archibald and Christina Nyman Egbert. He married Mary Ann Shanks, and they are the parents of six children. They are members of the Garden Heights Ward, Salt Lake Wilford Stake.
Sister Egbert has served as stake Relief Society president, ward Primary president, Church service missionary and with her husband in Chile. She was born in Fort Riley, Kan., to Earl Clyde and Tressie Agnes Lemmons Shanks.
