New mission presidents

Eight new mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency. The mission presidents and their wives will begin their service about July 1. Their assignments will be announced later. The new mission presidents are:

  • Michael C. Cannon, 42, Suncrest Ward, Kearns Utah West Stake; counselor in stake presidency; former member of Young Men general board, high councilor, stake Young Men president, counselor in bishopric, elders quorum president and counselor, Blazer leader, and missionary in the Ohio Columbus Mission; editorial writer for the Deseret News; received bachelor's degree in communications from Southern Utah University, and master's degree in journalism from the University of Oregon; born in Lewiston, Maine, to John Q. Jr. and Susan Flora Daniels Cannon; married Shauna Kaye Leek, four children. She is a counselor in the stake Young Women presidency; former counselor in stake Relief Society presidency, ward Relief Society and Young Women president, Primary teacher, and Laurel adviser; attended Southern Utah University; born in Chicago, Ill., to Thomas Arvel and Janet Milne Leek.

  • Roger DeMordaunt, 62, Idaho Falls 28th Ward, Idaho Falls Idaho Central Stake; high priests group leader; former regional representative, stake president and counselor, stake executive secretary, high councilor, and bishop; radiologist; attended BYU, received doctor of medicine degree from George Washington University, and did radiology residency at the Mayo Cinic; born in Pocatello, Idaho, to Paul and Alice Duckworth Snyder DeMordaunt; married Laura Dunkley, seven children. She is a counselor in the stake Relief Society presidency; former counselor in stake Relief Society presidency, stake Relief Society inservice leader, stake Young Women activities counselor, Primary teacher, and Primary chorister; attended BYU and received bachelor's degree in elementary education and sociology from Lewis-Clark State College; born in Washington, D.C., to LeGrand Joseph and Francelle Luzon Christensen Dunkley.

  • Alan W. Dudley, 61, Magrath 2nd Ward, Magrath Alberta Stake; serving in the Russia Rostov Mission where he is a counselor in the mission presidency; former Church Educational System missionary in Romania and Bulgaria, temple ordinance worker, counselor in district presidency, high councilor, stake Young Men president, bishop, and Scouting district president; chiropractor; attended BYU and received doctor of chiropractic degree from Logan College of Chiropractic; born in Magrath, Alberta, to Wallace and Mary Elder Dudley; married Patricia Hammers, nine children. She is serving as a missionary with her husband in the Russia Rostov Mission; former Church Educational System missionary with her husband in Romania and Bulgaria, temple ordinance worker, stake Young Women president, member of stake Relief Society presidency, ward Primary and Relief Society president, and seminary teacher; attended the University of Lethbridge; born in St. Louis, Mo., to Charles Richard and Margaret Lorraine Carter Roberts Hammers.

  • Gary K. Haddock, 60, Blackfoot 12th Ward, Blackfoot Idaho East Stake; former counselor in stake presidency, high councilor, bishop and counselor, Aaronic Priesthood adviser, elders quorum president, and missionary in South Africa; physician; attended BYU, received bachelor's degree in biology and doctor of medicine degree from the University of Utah; born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Ray L. and Phyllis Balls Haddock; married Kara Jane Rowberry, six children. She is a Relief Society teacher; former stake Primary music director, ward Young Women president, counselor in Primary presidency, Laurel adviser, choir director, Primary music director, and organist; received bachelor's degree in elementary education from BYU; born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Harold Edward and Della Armstrong Rowberry.

  • Michael R. Hinckley, 63, Holladay 28th Ward, Salt Lake Holladay South Stake; former high councilor, bishop and counselor, Sunday School and Primary teacher, Scout leader, and missionary in the British Mission; retired senior vice president of marketing for Kahler Realty Corp.; attended BYU, received bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Utah, master's degree in business from Harvard Business School; born in Salt Lake City to Frederick Russell and Lois Bathsheba Richards Hinckley; married Jean Folsom, seven children. She is a counselor in the ward Relief Society presidency; former stake Primary president, ward Young Women president, counselor in Relief Society presidency, Laurel adviser, Primary music leader, and den mother; recieved bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Utah; born in Sewell, Chile, to Elry Leonard and Maurine Bennion Folsom.

  • David M. Macdonald, 54, Redmond 3rd Ward, Redmond Washington Stake; counselor in stake presidency; former high councilor, stake mission president, bishop and counselor, Scoutmaster, deacons quorum adviser, and missionary in the Argentina Buenos Aires Mission; endodontist; received bachelor's degree in zoology from BYU, bachelor's degree, master's degree and doctor of dental science degree from the University of California, and specialty certificate in endodontics from the University of Washington; born in San Francisco, Calif., to Bradley Macolm and Beatrice Mary Curtis Macdonald; married Jeanne Hopkins, five children. She is a seminary teacher; former stake public communications director, Young Women and Primary president, Laurel adviser, Cub Scout leader, Relief Society teacher, and nursery leader; received bachelor's degree in English and Spanish from BYU; born in Santa Cruz, Calif., to Joseph Eugene and Mary Michele Ponza Hopkins.

  • Blaine C. Morgan, 59, Arvada 3rd Ward, Arvada Colorado Stake; stake clerk; former stake clerk, high councilor, stake mission president, bishop, high priests group leader, branch clerk, and missionary in Brazil; in marketing for Texaco; received bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Utah; born in Salt Lake City to Clifford Christensen and Deon J Davis Morgan; married Juday Ann Morris, four children. She is on the stake family history center staff; former stake Young Women president, ward Young Women president, Relief Society president, Primary president, ward choir director, Sunday School teacher, and children's music leader; attended the University of Utah; born in Cheyenne, Wyo., to George Call and Belva Dee Mayhue Morris.

  • Wayne C. Perkins, 59, Shaw Butte Ward, Phoenix Arizona North Stake; counselor in stake presidency; former high councilor, bishop and counselor, member of Young Men presidency, member of high priests group leadership, and member of elders quorum presidency; president of Perkins Enterprises; attended Utah State University; born in Pocatello, Idaho, to Maurice J and Klea Call Perkins; married La Preal Hatch, three children. She is former stake Relief Society president and counselor, stake Primary president, counselor in stake Young Women presidency, ward Relief Society and Young Women president, and teacher in the auxiliaries; attended BYU; born in Chesterfield, Idaho, to Ammon Paul and Phillis Louise Lee Hatch.
