Elder David O. McKay, then of the Quorum of the Twelve, was called by the First Presidency to chair the first Correlation Committee on Nov. 8, 1912. This committee, charged with coordinating scheduling and preventing unnecessary duplication in programs, merged with a Social Advisory Committee of the general boards in 1920. On April 14, 1921, the committee issued a major report on correlating activities of the auxiliaries and the priesthood, and many of its recommendations were subsequently adopted.
