Eight new mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency.
The mission presidents and their wives will begin their service about July
1. Their assignments will be announced later. The new mission presidents
are:
Norman D. Anderson, 63, Bonneville 5th
Ward, Provo Utah Bonneville Stake; Sunday School teacher; former stake
president and counselor, high councilor, bishop, branch president, ward
clerk, member of presidency of stake seventies quorum, elders quorum
president, Scoutmaster, and missionary in the East Central States Mission;
building contractor; received bachelor's degree in secondary education from
BYU; born in Rigby, Idaho, to Elmer Dean and Ladine Winder Anderson;
married Arnolene Snow, six children. She is a
nursery worker; former counselor in stake Relief Society presidency; ward
Relief Society president, Young Women president, Primary president,
organist, and chorister; received bachelor's degree in business education
from BYU; born in Castle Gate, Utah, to Arnold W. and Bessie Arilla
Robertson Snow.
Roy G. Bauer, 50, Ainaola Ward, Hilo
Hawaii Stake; counselor in stake presidency; former stake executive
secretary, high councilor, stake mission president, branch president,
bishop's counselor, high priests group leader, and missionary in the Fiji
Suva Mission; Church Educational System coordinator and institute director;
received bachelor's degree in physiology from the University of California
at Davis, master's degree in animal nutrition from the University of
Arkansas, and doctorate in educational administration from the University
of Hawaii at Manoa; born in Stockton, Calif., to Walton Ashby and Merry Mae
Wagner Bauer; married Michele Parr, five
children. She is stake choir pianist, ward Primary pianist and Cub Scout
leader; former counselor in stake Primary presidency, stake cultural arts
specialist, district Primary president and counselor, branch Primary
president, and branch pianist; music teacher; received bachelor's degree in
music from the University of Hawaii at Hilo; born in Stockton, Calif., to
John Clifford and Dorothy Jane Edwards Parr.
Thomas M. Cherrington, 47, Providence
8th Ward, Providence Utah Stake; Sunday School teacher; former counselor in
stake presidency, high councilor, bishop, Young Men president, elders
quorum president and counselor, and missionary in the Japan Central
Mission; associate director of Logan Institute of Religion; received
bachelor's degree in history and master's degree in public administration
from BYU; born in Payson, Utah, to Amyot Bert and Julia Aileen Ashby
Cherrington; married Mary Miner, four
children. She is Young Women president; former stake Young Women president,
ward Primary president, counselor in Young Women presidency, and Primary
chorister; received bachelor's degree in elementary education from BYU;
born in Portland, Ore., to Richard Keith and Helen Clegg Miner.
Robert K. Lund, 61, Perry 2nd Ward,
Willard Utah Stake; high priests group leader; former regional
representative, stake president and counselor, high councilor, bishop, and
Sunday School teacher; vice president of science and engineering for
Thiokol Corporation; received bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
from the University of Utah; born in Ogden, Utah, to Hyrum M. and Hazel D.
Davis Lund; married Marilyn Mayberry, six
children. She is visiting teaching coordinator; former stake Primary
president and counselor, ward activities committee chairman, Laurel
adviser, Scout advancement chairman, and Blazer Scout leader; received
associate degree in homemaking education from Weber State University; born
in Kanesville, Utah, to Joseph Lawrence and Margaret Cynthia Heslop
Mayberry.
David M. McQueen, 52, Orchard 7th
Ward, Bountiful Utah Orchard Stake; bishop; former high councilor,
counselor in branch presidency, Sunday School teacher, Young Men adviser,
and missionary in Denmark; physical facilities manager at Welfare Square
Deseret Industries, retired Army lieutenant colonel; received bachelor's
degree in political science from the University of Utah and attended
Command and General Staff College; born in Price, Utah, to Isaac and Ardes
Christiansen McQueen; married Susan Bennion,
two children. She is a Sunday School teacher; former Relief Society
president and counselor, counselor in Young Women presidency, Sunday School
and Relief Society teacher, and Cub Scout leader; school teacher; received
bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Utah; born
in Chicago, Ill., to William Horne and Wanda Green Bennion.
Lanny J. Nalder, 60, Providence 5th
Ward, Providence Utah South Stake; Sunday School president; former stake
president, high councilor, counselor in stake mission presidency and stake
missionary, bishop and counselor, branch president, high priests group
leader, Sunday School teacher, and served in the Australia Sydney Mission;
professor at Utah State University; received bachelor's degree in health
sciences and master's degree in physical education, both from BYU, and
doctorate in exercise science from the University of Utah; born in Idaho
Falls, Idaho, to Lloyd Morgan and Virla Johnson Nalder; married Bonnie Davies, three children. She is a Relief
Society teacher; former stake Young Women president, stake Primary
president and counselor, counselor in stake Relief Society presidency,
Relief Society and Primary teacher; attended BYU, received bachelor's
degree and master's degree in English from Utah State University; born in
Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Gilbert Wallace and Eleanor Balmforth Davies.
Michael Schulze, 54, Hannover Ward,
Hannover Germany Stake; bishop's counselor; former regional representative,
stake president, stake mission president, counselor in mission presidency,
district president, branch president, temple sealer, and missionary in the
Austria Mission; Church Educational System coordinator; received bachelor's
degree in German, science and special education from Pedagogical
University; born in Alfersham, Austria, to Gerhard and Elfriede Kohler
Schulze; married Karin Hasemann, seven
children. She is Relief Society homemaking leader, Sunday School teacher,
and seminary teacher; former counselor in stake Young Women presidency,
counselor in ward Primary presidency, Relief Society teacher, and
missionary in the France Mission; born in Hamburg, Germany, to Siegfried
Theodor and Hannchen Margarete Haanch Hasemann.
Robert H. Slover II, 50, Smoky Hill
Ward, Arapahoe Colorado Stake; bishop; former counselor in stake
presidency, bishop, district president, assistant area director of public
affairs, regional director of public affairs, and missionary in the Korean
Mission; pediatric endocrinologist; received bachelor's degree in pre-med
from BYU, doctorate in medicine from the University of Utah, and studied
pediatric endocrinology at the University of Colorado; born in Washington,
D.C., to Robert Henry and Rosemarie Wood Slover; married Robin Baker, five children. She is Mia Maid
adviser; former member of stake Relief Society board, counselor in ward
Relief Society presidency, teacher development leader, Sunday School and
Relief Society teacher; director of pain management at the University of
Colorado School of Medicine; received bachelor's degree in pre-med and
doctorate in medicine from the University of Utah, and studied
anesthesiology at the University of Colorado; born in Seattle, Wash., to
Forrest Sandusky Baker Jr. and Carol Fry Baker.
