Eight new mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency.
The mission presidents and their wives will begin their service about July
1. The new mission presidents and their assignments are:
Frank H. Apel, 59, Germany Dusseldorf
Mission; Freiberg Ward, Dresden Germany Stake; high councilor and Sunday
School teacher; former stake president, stake mission president, mission
executive secretary, counselor in district presidency, branch president,
and missionary in the Germany Dresden Mission; owner of an automobile
dealership; born in Freiberg, Germany, to Herbert Max and Lucie Margarete
Schneider Apel; married Helga Skibbe, four
children. She is a Sunday School teacher; former ward Primary president,
Relief Society president and counselor, and Sunday School teacher; born in
Greifswald, Germany, to Wilhelm and Juliane Kaletta Skibbe.
Scott W. Ballif, 63, originally called to
the California Fresno Mission, assignment transfered to the Oregon Portland
Mission; Pleasant View 2nd Ward, Pleasant View Utah Stake; activities
committee co-chairman and Sunday School teacher; former high councilor,
bishop, branch president and counselor, and Aaronic Priesthood adviser;
retired educator; attended BYU and University of Utah, received bachelor's
degree in physical education and master's degree in educational
administration from Utah State University; born in Ogden, Utah, to Mark
Squires and Edna Dixon Ballif; married Sherma
Craven, four children. She is activities committee co-chairman and
Sunday School teacher; former counselor in stake Relief Society presidency,
ward Young Women president and counselor, counselor in Relief Society
presidency, Sunday School and Young Women teacher; received bachelor's
degree in general education from Weber State University and bachelor's
degree in education from Utah State University; born in Ogden, Utah, to
Adelbert Roosevelt and Catharine Margaret Hendershot Craven.
William D. Bawden Jr., 63, Arkansas Little
Rock Mission; Huntington Beach 9th Ward, Huntington Beach California North
Stake; counselor in presidency of Salt Lake City Temple Square Mission;
former stake president and counselor, high councilor, bishop, and high
priests group leader; retired educator; received bachelor's degree in
biology and master's degree in education from the University of Southern
California, and doctorate in education from the University of LaVerne; born
in Salt Lake City to William Dean and Trilma Geneal Francis Bawden; married
Marcia Whittle, five children. She is a
missionary with her husband in Salt Lake City Temple Square Mission; former
ward Primary president and counselor, ward music chairman and choir
director, Sunday School teacher, Laurel adviser, Relief Society chorister,
and Primary organist and chorister; received bachelor's degree in education
from BYU; born in Preston, Idaho, to Merlin Thompson and Mildred Dunkley
Whittle.
Val L. Clarke, 51, California Ventura
Mission; Highland 6th Ward, Pocatello Idaho Highland Stake; counselor in
Pocatello Idaho University 1st Stake presidency; former stake president,
stake mission president, bishop, and missionary in the Great Lakes Mission;
institute of religion director; received bachelor's degree in youth
leadership and master's degree in community education from BYU; born in
Rexburg, Idaho, to Raymond Ernest and Gladys Lydia Larsen Clarke; married
LaJean Ricks, nine children. She is a
counselor in the ward Young Women presidency; former Relief Society
president and counselor, counselor in Primary presidency, seminary teacher,
and Sunday School teacher; received associate degree in child development
from Ricks College and bachelor's degree in child development and
elementary education from BYU; born in Rigby, Idaho, to LaVere Arnold and
Lucile Johnson Ricks.
Danilo D. Dela Vega, 50, Philippines
Tacloban Mission; Macabalan Ward, Cagayan de Oro Philippines East Stake;
counselor in the Philippines Cagayan de Oro Mission presidency; former
regional representative, stake president and counselor, counselor in
mission presidency, and counselor in district presidency; institute of
religion director; received degree in engineering from Mindanao State
University, and bachelor's degree in accounting from Xavier University;
born in Ozamiz City, Philippines, to Salcedo Machon and Cristita Macarayo
Durias Dela Vega; married Milagros Maandig,
five children. She is a counselor in the mission Young Women presidency;
former counselor and secretary in stake Relief Society presidency, ward
Relief Society president and counselor; born in Cagayan de Oro City,
Philippines, to Lino Beja and Presca Mercado Yaba Maandig.
Daniel A. Moreno, 46, Bolivia Cochabamba
Mission; La Florida Ward, Rosario Argentina North Stake; bishop; former
stake president, high councilor, stake mission president, bishop, Young Men
president, and missionary in the Argentina North Mission; quality and
environment auditor for petrochemical company; received degree as a
chemistry technician from National Technical School and degree in
engineering from Rosario National University; born in Rosario, Argentina,
to Arnoldo Daniel and Antonia Elena Stanoevich Moreno; married Alicia Colombo, three children. She is a Sunday
School teacher; former stake Relief Society president and counselor,
counselor in stake Young Women presidency, ward Young Women and Relief
Society president, and seminary teacher; received bachelor's degree in
accounting from Superior De Comercio; born in Rosario, Argentina, to
Armando and Angela Catalina Crespi Colombo.
Arsenio A. Pagaduan, 51, Philippines Davao
Mission; Cabanatuan 3rd Ward, Cabanatuan Philippines Stake; counselor in
Philippines Cabanatuan Mission presidency; former stake president, district
president, district high councilor, branch president, ward executive
secretary, and Sunday School president; Church Educational System
coordinator; received bachelor's degree in agricultural engineering from
Entral Luzon State University, diploma in soil and water engineering from
National College of Agricultural Engineering, and master's degree in
business from Ateneo De Manila University; born in Paniqui, Philippines, to
Domingo Dela Cruz and Felicidad Sagadraca Abraham Pagaduan; married Aida Virola, seven children. She is a former ward
Young Women president, Relief Society and Primary president, and Relief
Society teacher; received bachelor's degree in elementary education from
College of Immaculate Conception, and bachelor's degree in secondary
education from Wesleyan University; born in Cabanatuan City, Philippines,
to Manuel Fernandez and Dominga De Jesus Calara Virola.
W. David Terry, 49, Ecuador Guayaquil North Mission; Green Valley 7th Ward, St. George Utah Green Valley Stake; former counselor in stake presidency, high councilor, bishop and counselor, and Scoutmaster; restaurant manager; attended Dixie College; born in Cedar City, Utah, to Maeser W. and Marilla Barlocker Terry; married Linda Jensen, six children. She is ward Relief Society president; former ward Young Women president, counselor in Relief Society presidency, Primary worker, inservice teacher, and Cub Scout leader; attended Dixie College; born in St. George, Utah, to Richard E. and Jessie Anderson Jensen.
