Six new General Authorities to serve in the Second Quorum of the Seventy were sustained at the Saturday afternoon session, April 3. In addition, three new Area Authority Seventies were sustained.

The new leaders are:

Elder Adhemar Damiani, 59, Sao Paulo, Brazil, second counselor in the Brazil South Area Presidency, who has been serving as an Area Authority Seventy in the Fourth Quorum of the Seventy. He is the retired owner and partner of SEDA Tecnologia, a data processing company. He has held executive and managerial positions in systems analysis and human resources with a number of international corporations and banks in Brazil. He is a former mission president, counselor in the Sao Paulo Missionary Training Center presidency, regional welfare agent, stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop, high priests group leader and Sunday School teacher. He and his wife, Walkyria Bronze Damiani, are the parents of two children.

Elder Stephen B. Oveson, 62, San Juan Capistrano, Calif., president of the Argentina Buenos Aires South Mission. He is former president and owner of Suite Thinking, Inc., a hotel development and management company. He is a former high councilor, stake missionary, bishop, temple ordinance worker, Young Men president, Sunday School teacher and full-time missionary. He received a bachelor's degree from BYU. He and his wife, Dixie Randall Oveson, are the parents of six children, five living.

Elder David R. Stone, 62, Windermere, Fla., president of the Dominican Republic Santo Domingo West Mission. He is a retired international business executive who held senior management positions with Black & Decker, U.I. Group and Gillette in the United States, Europe and Latin America. He is a former regional representative, stake president's counselor, high councilor, Young Men president, ward mission leader, high priests group leader, Sunday School teacher and full-time missionary. He received a bachelor's degree from BYU. He and his wife, Rosalie Erekson Stone, have six children.

Elder H. Bruce Stucki, 61, St. George, Utah, president of the England Manchester Mission. He is a former business executive in food distribution and real estate. He has served as an area authority, regional representative, stake president and counselor, stake Young Men president, bishop and counselor, and Scouting leader. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Utah. He and his wife, Cheryl Stucki, have six children.

Elder Richard H. Winkel, 56, Provo, Utah, retired as owner and president of Beaver Lumber of Arcata. He is a former mission president, stake president, bishop, high councilor, Scouting leader, seminary teacher and full-time missionary. He received a bachelor's degree from BYU and an master's degree from Pepperdine University. He and his wife, Karen Hart Winkel, are parents of nine children.

Elder Robert S. Wood, 62, Middletown, R.I., who has been serving as an Area Authority Seventy in the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy. He is dean of the Center for Naval Warfare Studies at the U.S. Naval War College. As a broadly published specialist in national security policy and international affairs, he has taught at the University of Virginia and Harvard University, and has been a visiting professor and lecturer at many other U.S. and international universities. He is a former regional representative, stake president, bishop, high councilor and Young Men president. He received a bachelor's degree from Standard University and a master's degree and doctorate from Harvard University. He and his wife, Dixie Leigh Jones, are parents of four children.

Sustained as Area Authority Seventies were Elder Benjamin De Hoyos, 46, Tuxtla Guiterrez, Mexico, who will serve in the Fourth Quorum of the Seventy in the Mexico South Area; Elder Pedro J. Penha, 40, Cariacica, Brazil, Fourth Quorum of the Seventy to serve in the Brazil South Area; and Elder Steven E. Snow, 49, Washington, Utah, Fifth Quorum of the Seventy to serve in the Utah South Area.
