In cool, even "nippy" spring weather, few people were on the grounds of Temple Square at the beginning of the Saturday afternoon session. Within the warmth of the Tabernacle, however, members crowded eagerly onto every available seat.

Their expectations were soon met as music of the combined choir from Ricks College began. During the session, the choir sang "Hark, All Ye Nations," "O Love That Glorifies the Son," "Rejoice the Lord Is King!" a medly of "From Homes of Saints" and "Home Can Be a Heaven on Earth" concluding with "Sweet Is the Peace the Gospel Brings."

President James E. Faust conducted the session. The invocation was offered by Elder Richard D. Allred and the benediction by Elder Eran A. Call, both of the Seventy.

President Thomas S. Monson led the sustaining of the General Authorities, to which the congregation responded with raised hands. Among those sustained were six new members of the Second Quorum of the Seventy and three new Area Authority Seventies.
