Derrill H. Richards, 70, Ensign 1st Ward, Salt Lake Ensign Stake, has been called as president of the Salt Lake Temple, succeeding Elder Carlos E. Asay, who died April 10. Pres. Richards' wife, Colleen Germer Richards, will serve as temple matron. Pres. Richards, first counselor in the Salt Lake Temple presidency, is a former president of the Pennsylvania Harrisburg Mission, stake president's counselor, bishop, district president, and branch president. A retired IBM executive, he received a bachelor's degree from the University of Utah. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ezra Foss and Mertie Malinda Hunt Richards. Sister Richards is a former stake Relief Society board member, Relief Society president's counselor, YWMIA president's counselor, and Relief Society teacher. She was born in Brigham City, Utah, to Jack Edwin and Bernice Nichols Germer.
