John Morgan, sustained as one of the first seven Presidents of the Seventy on Oct. 5, 1884, opened the Morgan Commercial College in Salt Lake City in 1866 the first commercial college west of the Mississippi. Among students enrolled between 1867 and 1874 were Heber J. Grant, Orson F. Whitney, Mathias F. Cowley, J. Golden Kimball and Brigham H. Roberts.
