Eight new mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency.
The mission presidents and their wives will begin their service about July
1. The new mission presidents and their assignments are:
Owen Dean Call, 65, Ecuador Quito Mission;
Victorville 1st Ward, Victorville California Stake; temple ordinance worker
and sealer, and stake missionary; former president of Guatemala City
Temple and counselor in Chile Santiago Temple presidency, regional
representative, stake president, stake executive secretary, stake mission
president, bishop and counselor; retired school district assistant
superintendent; received bachelor's and master's degrees from BYU, and
attended the University of California-Riverside and California State
University, Los Angeles; born in Colonia Dublan, Mexico, to Charles Heleman
and Hannah Skousen Call; married Barbara Hulet, seven children. She is a
temple ordinance worker and stake missionary; former temple matron and
assistant matron, stake name extraction coordinator, ward Relief Society
president, counselor in Young Women presidency, Relief Society lesson
leader, and Primary and ward organist; attended BYU; born in Rexburg,
Idaho, to Albert Franklin and Vida Hill Hulet.
Alvin H. Price, 64, Russia Vladivostok
Mission; Edgemont 8th Ward, Provo Utah Edgemont South Stake, Provo Utah
Edgemont South Stake; former country director for Latter-day Saints
Charities in Russia, Church writing committee member, high councilor, stake
missionary and stake mission secretary, bishop and counselor, branch
president, Sunday School president and counselor, Sunday School teacher,
missionary with his wife in Romania, and missionary in the Eastern States
Mission; retired BYU professor; received bachelor's degree in family
science from BYU, and master's degree and doctorate in child development
from the University of Minnesota; born in Logan, Utah, to Harold Harmon and
Hazel Ruth Sewell Price; married Barbara Wagstaff, five children. She is
former country director for Latter-day Saint Charities, Church writing
committee member, missionary with her husband in Romania, ward Relief
Society president, Young Women president and counselor, Young Women and
Sunday School teacher; received bachelor's degree in home economics
education from Utah State University, and attended Kansas State University,
BYU, and the University of Minnesota; born in American Fork, Utah, to Don
and Ruth Broadbent Wagstaff.
Mark D. Ringger, 47, Brazil Rio De Janeiro
Mission; North Field 6th Ward, Pleasant Grove Utah North Field Stake;
counselor in stake presidency; former high councilor, bishop and counselor,
Young Men president and adviser, Sunday School teacher, and missionary in
the Brazil Central Mission; director of research and evaluation for the
Church Educational System; received bachelor's degree in history, master's
degree in educational psychology, and doctorate in family studies, all from
BYU; born in Provo, Utah, to Carl Walter and Elsie Graeser Ringger; married
Jill Taylor, six children. She is a Relief Society teacher; former
counselor in stake Primary presidency, counselor in ward Young Women
presidency, counselor in Primary presidency, counselor in Relief Society
presidency, Young Women teacher, Primary teacher and chorister, Relief
Society snd Sunday School teacher, and Cub Scout leader; junior high family
and consumer science teacher; received bachelor's degree in home economics
education from BYU; born in Provo, Utah, to Paul H. and Alene Kofford
Taylor.
Ronald A. Stone, 55, Washington Tacoma
Mission; Deer Creek Ward, Midway Utah Stake; stake president; former high
counselor, stake mission president, stake Young Men president, bishop and
counselor, elders quorum president, priests quorum adviser, Sunday School
teacher, and seminary and institute teacher; career in advertising;
received bachelor's degree in sociology and philosophy from the University
of Utah; born in Lehi, Utah, to Arvil G. and Melba Smith Stone; married
Robyn Pugmire, six children. She is a Sunday School teacher and visiting
teaching supervisor; former member of Primary, Relief Society and Young
Women presidencies, Sunday School teacher and organist, Primary and Young
Women teacher, Relief Society teacher, and activities committee chairman;
attended BYU; born in Salt Lake City to Glenn Donald and June Leitzell
Pugmire.
Henry D. Taylor Jr., 68, Tennessee Nashville
Mission; Palo Alto 2nd Ward, Menlo Park California Stake; counselor in
stake presidency; former chairman of region Young Men/Young Women Council,
counselor in stake presidency, high councilor, stake Young Men president,
bishop, Young Men president, Scoutmaster, elders quorum president, seminary
teacher, missionary and district president in the Western Canadian Mission;
director of telecommunications for Hewlett-Packard Co.; received bachelor's
degree in business management and English from BYU, and master's degree in
business administration from Harvard Business School; born in Provo, Utah,
to Henry Dixon and Alta Hansen Taylor; married Colette Green, nine
children. She is ward choir, drama and music director; former stake Relief
Society president, ward Young Women president, counselor in Primary
presidency, ward newspaper editor, activities committee chairman, seminary
teacher, Primary teacher, and music director; received bachelor's degree in
education and art from BYU; born in Lethbridge, Alberta, to Thomas Nalder
and Cora Jane Johnson Green.
Ruben D. Torres, 38, Mexico Guadalajara

stake presidency; former counselor in stake presidency, high councilor,
counselor in mission presidency, bishop, branch president, and missionary
in Colombia Bogota Mission; Church Educational System country director;
received administrative education degree from the University of San
Buenaventura in Bogota, Colombia, and attended the University del Valle in
Cali, Colombia; born in Cali, Colombia, to Jose Daniel and Maria Rubiela
Rios Torres; married Maria Sanchez, four children. She is ward Primary
president; former ward Relief Society president and counselor, Relief
Society secretary, Sunday School and seminary teacher; received degree in
dance teaching from the Institute of Popular Culture in Cali, Colombia, and
attended National Teaching University in Bogota, Colombia; born in Cartago,
Colombia, to Gustavo and Lucia Sanchez.
Philip C. Wightman, 62, England Manchester
Mission; Rexburg 19th Ward, Rexburg Idaho Stake; counselor in stake
presidency; former high councilor, bishop and counselor, and missionary in
the Great Lakes Mission; faculty member at Ricks College; received
bachelor's degree in secondary education and master's degree in history of
religion from BYU; born in Provo, Utah, to William DeMar and Thelma Elmira
Barnson Wightman; married Patsy Wright, six children. She is a Ricks
College Relief Society adviser; former stake Primary president, stake
cultural arts specialist, stake and ward organist, ward Young Women
president and Laurel adviser, and counselor in Primary and Relief Society

Kenneth R. Zimmerman, 65, California Roseville Mission; Valley View 9th Ward, Salt Lake Holladay North Stake; Young Men president; former high councilor, bishop's counselor, branch president's counselor, Explorer Post leader and committee chairman, and Varsity Scout coach; owner of American Equipment; received bachelor's degree in physics and master's degree in business administration from the University of Utah; born in Lehi, Utah, to Rolland J. and Lois Bone Zimmerman; married Carol Wall, six children. She is Relief Society compassionate service leader; former counselor in stake Relief Society presidency, ward Relief Society and Young Women president, Young Women and Primary teacher; attended University of Utah; born in Dallas, Texas, to George Frederich and Willa Ellen Mathers Smith Wall.
