Family: Born July 9, 1936, in Grass Valley, Ore., to Merrill M. and Mal Berg Oveson; married Dixie Randall Sept. 7, 1960, in the Arizona Temple; six children: Stephen Randall, Brent Kirkham, Mark Merrill, Richard Rex, Jason Berg (deceased), Robert Martin; 14 grandchildren.
Education: Bachelor's degree in finance and banking from BYU, 1961.
Employment: President, Suite Thinking Inc., a hotel development and management company; president, Granada Royale Hometels, a hotel chain (now Embassy Suites); commercial loan officer for Western American Mortgage; other various financial positions.
Church service: President of Argentina Buenos Aires South Mission, 1996-present; high councilor in Laguna Niguel California Stake; bishop of Laguna Niguel 2nd Ward; stake missionary; temple ordinance worker; Scoutmaster, ward Young Men president; Sunday School teacher; full-time missionary.
