A prominent painting in the Church Office Building was unveiled Tuesday, July 30, 1974, according to the Aug. 3, 1974, Church News.

The painting depicts "the Savior directing His apostles to spread the gospel to all the world," the article reported. "The sacred group is shown standing on a knoll with Jerusalem and the Garden of Gethsemane in the background."

The Church News reported, "The unveiling ceremony was presided over by President Spencer W. Kimball, who said the painting depicted one of the most important events in history.

"He said it was at that time that the Savior told His apostles, 'Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.' (Mark 16:15-16.)"

The article continued: "The new mural in the foyer of the Church Office Building covers nearly the entire east wall." It extends from floor to ceiling.

Grant Romney Clawson, a self-taught Salt Lake City artist, painted the 66-foot by 16-foot mural from an original work by Harry Anderson that was commissioned by the Church.
