The First Presidency has announced a change in the Presidency of the Seventy.

Elder Ben B. Banks, who has served as a General Authority for 10 years, has been called to serve in the Presidency of the Seventy. Released from the presidency is Elder Joe J. Christensen, who has served in the presidency since 1993.

Elder Banks, 67, a former president of the Scotland Edinburgh Mission, was called to the Second Quorum of the Seventy April 1, 1989, and to the First Quorum of the Seventy June 6, 1992, and sustained Oct. 3, 1992. He and his wife, Susan Kearnes Banks, are parents of eight children.

Other members of the Presidency of the Seventy are Elders L. Aldin Porter, Harold G. Hillam, Earl C. Tingey, D. Todd Christofferson, Marlin K. Jensen and David E. Sorensen.

Elder Porter, 68, has been a member of the Presidency of the Seventy since Aug. 15, 1992. He was sustained to the First Quorum of the Seventy April 4, 1987. He and his wife, Shirley Palmer Porter, are parents of six children.

Elder Hillam, 63, was called to the Presidency of the Seventy Aug. 15, 1995. He was sustained to the Second Quorum of the Seventy March 31, 1990, and to the First Quorum of the Seventy April 6, 1991. He and his wife, Carol Rasmussen Hillam, are parents of seven children.

Elder Tingey, 65, has served in the Presidency of the Seventy since Aug. 15, 1996. He was called to the First Quorum of the Seventy Dec. 5, 1990, and sustained April 6, 1991. He and his wife, Joanne Wells Tingey, are parents of four children.

Elder Christofferson, 54, has served in the Presidency of the Seventy since Aug. 15, 1998. He was called to the First Quorum of the Seventy April 3, 1993. He and his wife, Katherine Jacob Christofferson, are parents of five children.

Elder Jensen, 57, was called to the Presidency of the Seventy Aug. 15, 1998. He was sustained to the First Quorum of the Seventy April 1, 1989. He and his wife, Kathleen Bushnell Jensen, are parents of eight children.

Elder Sorensen, 66, has served in the Presidency of the Seventy since Aug. 15, 1998. He was called to the Second Quorum of the Seventy June 6, 1992, and sustained Oct. 3, 1992. He was sustained to the First Quorum of the Seventy April 1, 1995. He and his wife, Verla Anderson Sorensen, are parents of seven children.

Elder Christensen, 70, served in the Presidency of the Seventy since Aug. 15, 1993. He was sustained to the First Quorum of the Seventy April 1, 1989, while serving as president of Ricks College. He and his wife, Barbara Kohler Christensen, are parents of six children.
