President Lorenzo Snow continued his powerful teachings concerning tithing during a stake conference in Soda Springs, Idaho, on Aug. 20-21, 1899, according to the Aug. 22, 1999, issue of the Deseret Evening News.
The Church president spoke in a bowery specially constructed to handle the large congregation expected for the Bannock Stake conference. "The wind and dust were very disagreeable, making it impossible for all to hear," the article said of the first session of the conference. It added that President Snow's voice was clear and strong despite the conditions during the first session.
The article also reported: "President Snow told the Saints that the Lord now required a full obedience to this principle [tithing], promising that if they complied from now on the Lord would forgive their past neglect in this respect, and would bless them more abundantly in the future than He had done in the past."
The conference continued with another session on Monday.
President Snow had been regularly attending stake conferences since receiving a revelation on tithing in southern Utah in the spring of the year. The article said: "This is the largest company that President Snow has yet taken to any of the conferences, there being 31 persons in all."
