Kay H Clifford, 74, of the Federal Heights Ward, Salt Lake Emigration Stake, called as president of the Oakland California Temple, succeeding Pres. Durrel A. Woolsey. Pres. Clifford's wife, Ruth Jones Clifford, will serve as temple matron. Pres. Clifford served as president of the Texas Houston Mission, mission president's counselor, stake president, bishop and temple worker. He also served on a symphony orchestra board and was a school board member and president. A dentist and professor of restorative dentistry at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, he graduated from Gila Junior College, Notre Dame University, and Northwestern University. He was born in Safford, Ariz., to Marvin Henry and Genevie Layton Clifford. Sister Clifford, currently serving as hostess in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, is a former ward and stake Young Women president, stake Relief Society president, and she served with her husband when he presided over a mission. She attended Los Angeles City College and the University of California at Los Angeles. She was born in Mesa, Ariz., to Doctor Byron and Edna Layton Jones.
