P. Bruce Mitchell, 64, Dural Ward, Sydney Australia Greenwich Stake, called as president of the Sydney Australia Temple, succeeding Pres. Robert J. Belbin. Pres. Mitchell's wife, Elva Merle Trost Mitchell, will serve as temple matron.

Pres. Mitchell, an Area Authority Seventy, served as counselor in the Pacific Area presidency, temple president's counselor, regional representative, president of the Australia Melbourne Mission, mission president's counselor, stake president's counselor and bishop. He is a retired master franchiser for Chem-Dry of Australia. He was born in Adelaide, Australia, to Charles and Ada Gage Mitchell.

Sister Mitchell is a former ward Relief Society, Young Women and Primary president, and stake Young Women president's counselor. She was born in Brisbane, Australia, to Arthur Conrad and Elsie Gentner Trost.

Gary L. Schwendiman, 68, Brighton 10th Ward, Salt Lake Brighton Stake, called as president of the Bern Switzerland temple, succeeding Pres. Georg J. Birsfelder. Pres. Schwendiman's wife, Marva Jorgensen Schwendiman, will serve as temple matron.

Pres. Schwendiman served as president of the Germany Hamburg Mission, counselor in the International Mission presidency, temple sealer, patriarch and bishop. A retired attorney, he received a bachelor's degree from BYU and juris doctorate from Harvard Law School. He was born in Rexburg, Idaho, to Lynn and Myrtle Holley Schwendiman.

Sister Schwendiman is a former Relief Society president and temple sealing department assistant; she served with her husband when he was a mission president. She received a bachelor's degree from BYU. She was born in Murray, Utah, to Henry C. and Ruth Goodman Jorgensen.

Weldon R. Tovey, 60, Cedar Hills 4th Ward, Pleasant Grove Utah Manila Stake, called as president of the Boise Idaho Temple, succeeding Pres. C. Leon Johnson. Pres. Tovey's wife, Vicki Rae Bowman Tovey, will serve as temple matron.

Pres. Tovey served as regional representative, stake president and counselor, high councilor and bishop. A retired associate dean of engineering at the University of Idaho, he received bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Idaho, and an Ed.D. from BYU. He was born in Malad City, Idaho, to Lester M. and Edith Reynolds Tovey.

Sister Tovey is a former stake and ward Relief Society homemaking counselor, stake Young Women president's counselor, ward Young Women leader and family history center director. She attended Ricks College, Utah State University and BYU. She was born in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Jack M. and Mable Leavitt Bowman.

Cyrus J. Webber Jr., 74, Westland Ward, Westland Michigan Stake, called as president of the new Detroit Michigan Temple, which will be dedicated Oct. 23-24, 1999. Pres. Webber's wife, Glenna Margaret Palmateer Webber, will serve as temple matron.

Pres. Webber served as temple president's counselor, patriarch, stake mission president's counselor and bishop. He and his wife served together in the Spain Seville Mission. A retired secondary teacher and counselor, he received a bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University and a master's degree from the University of Michigan. He was born in Preston, Idaho, to Cyrus J. and Katherine Collinsworth Webber.

Sister Webber is a former assistant temple matron, mission president's secretary, stake and ward Young Women president's counselor, ward Relief Society president's counselor and teacher. She received a bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University and a master's degree from the University of Michigan. She was born in Wayne, Mich., to Harold S. and Marjorie Hammond Palmateer.

David. V. Yarn, 67, University City Ward, Charlotte North Carolina Central Stake, called as president of the new Columbia South Carolina Temple, which will be dedicated Oct. 16-17, 1999. Pres. Yarn's wife, Catherine Jones Yarn, will serve as temple matron.

Pres. Yarn, a patriarch, served as bishop, bishop's counselor, elders quorum president, Young Men president and ward clerk. He is a retired wholesale/retail grocer and Preventative Maintenance director of Church Physical Facilities Department. He was born in Atlanta, Ga., to George Herbert and Sadie Catherine Montgomery Yarn.

Sister Yarn is a former Primary president, counselor and teacher, Relief Society president's counselor and teacher, and teacher in seminary, Sunday School and Young Women. She was born in Atlanta, Ga., to Charlie Casey and Martha Louise Shepard Jones.
