Martha K. and Loring M. Hampton
Loring M. Hampton, 73, South Cottonwood 13th Ward, Salt Lake South Cottonwood Stake, called as president of the Jordan River Utah Temple, succeeding Pres. LeGrand R. Curtis. Pres. Hampton's wife, Martha Kooyman Hampton, will serve as temple matron.
Pres. Hampton is currently executive secretary of the Utah South Area presidency and stake patriarch, and is a former executive secretary for the Philippines Area presidency, temple ordinance worker, stake president's counselor, high councilor and bishop. He is the retired manager of Shapiros, a retail store in downtown Salt Lake City. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Utah. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Loring B. and Fanny Merrill Hampton.
Sister Hampton is a former counselor in stake Young Women and Relief Society presidencies, ward Relief Society president, and temple worker; she served a mission in the Philippines with her husband. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to William D. and Magdalena Vander Does Kooyman.
Janet R.L. and E.A. John MacLennan
E.A. John MacLennan, 61, Dartmouth Ward, Dartmouth Nova Scotia Stake, called as president of the new Halifax Nova Scotia Temple, which will be dedicated Nov. 13. Pres. MacLennan's wife, Janet R.L. Vaughan Mac Lennan, will serve as temple matron.
Pres. MacLennan served as high councilor, stake executive secretary and bishop's counselor. A retired junior high school teacher, he received bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees from Dalhausie University. He was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, to Neil F. and Edna Forrester Ball MacLennan.
Sister MacLennan, a director of stake public affairs, is a former district Primary president, stake camp director, and ward Relief Society and Young Women president. She received a bachelor's degree from Mount Allison University and another bachelor's degree from Dalhousie University. She was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, to Max G.B. and Mary K.S. Vaughan.
