During the remaining weeks before the year 2000, believers ought to consider the renewal practiced by ancient Israel called a Jubilee year.

As Israelites celebrated a Jubilee year, they allowed land to rest, property reverted to its original owners and slaves went free.

In the new millennium, church members ought to consider parts of their lives they could rest for a season in a effort to renew their souls. It may be a time to call "time out" on certain activities while emphasizing those that add value.

"Let us place higher priority on family prayer, family scripture study and family home evenings and eliminate those activities that fill our lives with worldliness and evil."

While the practice of reverting land to its original owners is not practical today, other forms of inheritance, such as preserving a family's heritage, should be encouraged.

"Have we preserved for our children the great stories of how the gospel was brought to and accepted by those early members of our families?"

While slavery has been largely abolished, believers should be watchful not to be ensnared by Satan.

"Could it be a time of disregarding those habits and activities which ensnare and enslave us in the traps of the adversary and retard our eternal progress?"
