The First Presidency has called two new mission presidents. They and their wives are currently serving in their missions. The presidents and their assignments are:
Barbara and Brent L. Nielson
Brent L. Nielson, 61, DR Congo Kinshasa Mission; Mountain View Ward, Cardston Alberta West Stake; former stake president, temple sealer and ordinance worker, bishop and counselor, and teachers quorum instructor; former superintendent of schools in Cardston, Alberta; received bachelor's degree in French and education and master's degree in educational administration from BYU; born in Cardston, Alberta, to Ora Leroy and Vivian Marsden Nielson; married Barbara Tollestrup, six children. She is a former temple ordinance worker, Relief Society president and teacher, Primary teacher, and seminary teacher; received registered nursing degree from Gait School of Nursing; born in Lethbridge, Alberta, to Marion Arthur and Juliana Maria Audenart Tollerstrup.
Luana and Elmer L. Sanders
Elmer L. Sanders, 65, Philippines Olongapo Mission; Pella 1st Ward, Oakley Idaho Stake; former stake president, high councilor, bishop and counselor, ward clerk, elders quorum secretary, and missionary with his wife in the California San Jose Mission; farmer; born in Murray, Utah, to Elmer Seigfried and Hazel Alvina Anderson Sanders; married Luana Gordon, four children. She is a former stake Primary president, counselor in ward Relief Society presidency, Young Women adviser, teacher in Relief Society literacy program, and family history extraction worker; born in Salt Lake City to Wiley Peter and Gladys Mae Jordan Gordon.
