LOS ANGELES, Calif. — On a balmy California evening, about 6,000 people toured the grounds of the Los Angeles California Temple and applauded with delight as 350,000 lights were turned on during the annual "Christmas on Temple Hill" program Nov. 27.
Accounts of the Savior's birth, as told in the New Testament and the Book of Mormon, were read during a lighting ceremony program. The Southern California Mormon Choir sang traditional Christmas music ending with the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's "Messiah."
The choir was joined by the local LDS Korean Choir for a rendition of "Silent Night" in Korean, and by soloist Joe Paur, who sang "O Holy Night."
Among Church leaders and others attending and participating in the program were members from the Los Angeles East (Spanish) and Los Angeles stake presidencies, from the Centinela 2nd (Tongan) Ward, the Los Angeles Temple, the Southern California Public Affairs Council, the California Los Angeles Mission, the visitors center and the family history center.
