Pioneer gristmill

Located just off Interstate 80, outside of Tooele, Utah, stands a pioneer gristmill, constructed in 1854 under the direction of Elder Ezra T. Benson of the Quorum of the Twelve and great-grandfather of President Ezra Taft Benson.

More than 200 people gathered outside the mill on June 11, 1988, when President Benson dedicated the restored building, part of a seven-acre historic park.

Much of the original machinery is still intact in the mill, which was operated until 1939. The historic park also includes a log cabin built in 1875, a privy, a blacksmith shop, hay wagons, a hay derrick and a sheep camp wagon.
