The evening before the dedication of the St. Paul Minnesota Temple, A. Keith Martin, 64, recently released president of the Minneapolis Minnesota Mission, died of a heart attack.
Pres. Martin of the Eugene 7th Ward, Eugene Oregon Stake, had just addressed a missionary meeting Saturday evening, Jan. 8, and was leaving the stand when he collapsed. He died later in the hospital. Pres. Richard Halverson, who served as Pres. Martin's first counselor in the mission presidency, said, "When Pres. Martin first came as a mission president, he was asked what his objective was. He said he wanted to see a temple built. Before his release, a temple was announced."
