For behold, thus saith the Lord God: I will give unto the children of men, line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little; and blessed are those who hearken unto my precepts, and lend an ear unto my counsel, for they shall learn wisdom; for unto him that receiveth I will give more; and from them that shall say, We have enough, from them shall be taken away even that which they have.
2 Nephi 28:30
In 1952, I was serving in the army, stationed in Yokohama, Japan. I was investigating the Church by reading, writing to friends at home and attending a small servicemen's branch in Yokohama. I was deeply impressed by what I had read, but still lacked a testimony of Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. There were many questions still unanswered.
After reading 2 Nephi 28:30, I began to notice that when a question came up during the week, it would be answered the very next Sunday, in a sacrament meeting talk, in a Sunday School lesson, or a priesthood lesson. This was always without my asking the question or prompting the answer in any way.
I saw the literal fulfillment of the Lord's promise in this scripture. It was no coincidence. It strengthened my faith in the Book of Mormon and in the reality of God's promises. I later gained a testimony of the gospel, and still find this scripture to be true for me and my wife as we study and for those whom we teach. Howard W. Richmond, Plano, Texas.
