President Spencer W. Kimball was among those greeting special visitors when the newly remodeled Mesa Arizona Temple opened to the public prior to its rededication. Guests were welcomed to tour the temple on March 17 and 18, 1975, according to the March 22, 1975, Church News.
President Kimball "and members of the temple presidency greeted the visitors at the east door at the beginning of the tour."
The visitors included Arizona Gov. Raul Castro, members of the Arizona legislature and other government leaders, and approximately 500 ministers of other churches.
"Elder Gordon B. Hinckley of the Council of the Twelve addressed five groups of more than 100 each at the chapel on the west side of the temple at the conclusion of the March 17 tours," the article stated.
The temple was rededicated in six sessions April 15 and 16.
