WARSAW, Poland Local Church leaders participated in an official
visit to the Presidential Palace here recently, meeting with the first lady
of Poland, Madame Jolanta Kwiasnewska, and the presidential counselor,
Kazimerz Morawski.
President Douglas F. Tobler of the Poland Warsaw Mission, and Robert Zelewski, a member of the Church's National Public Affairs Council, were invited to meet with Poland's first lady after an earlier visit with Mr. Morawski during which he was informed about the Church and its work and achievements in Poland.
"He is a warm, friendly man and was impressed enough with our message, especially our humanitarian work, that he arranged for us to meet Madame Kwiasnewska," said President Tobler.
During the meeting, Mr. Morawski and Madame Kwiasnewska were presented with a copy of the Book of Mormon, the Proclamation on the Family and other relevant materials.
President Tobler said the first lady is well-educated, informed and devoted to a variety of humanitarian causes that benefit the people in her country, especially women and children. "She exhibited a genuine interest in learning about the Church, its teachings and purposes and welcomed our offer to contribute where we can to worthwhile humanitarian causes in the country."
During the visit Brother Zelewski had the opportunity to explain why he became a member of the Church, and joined President Tobler in sharing his testimony.
