Church members sustained nine General Authorities to the First and Second Quorums of the Seventy during the Saturday afternoon session of the 170th Annual General Conference on April 1. Included in the number were two members of the Second Quorum of the Seventy who were sustained to the First Quorum of the Seventy.
Called to the First Quorum
were:
Elder Donald L. Hallstrom
Elder Donald L. Hallstrom, 50, Honolulu, Hawaii, who has been an Area Authority Seventy serving in the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy since 1997. Previously, he served as a regional representative, stake president, bishop, high councilor, elders quorum president and full-time missionary. He works in real estate as president of his own company. He has a bachelor's degree from BYU. He and his wife, Diane Clifton Hallstrom, are the parents of four children.
Elder Ronald A. Rasband
Elder Ronald A. Rasband, 49, Sandy, Utah, who was serving as the Young Men president in his ward and on the Member-Missionary Program's Advisory Committee at the time of his call as a General Authority. He is a self-employed consultant who previously was President and Chief Operations Officer of Huntsman Chemical Corporation. He served as a mission president, gospel doctrine teacher, branch president, elders quorum president and a full-time missionary. He attended the University of Utah and received an honorary doctorate from Utah Valley State College. He and his wife, Melanie Twitchell Rasband, are the parents of five children.
Elder Lynn G. Robbins
Elder Lynn G. Robbins, 44, was called to the Second Quorum of the Seventy in 1997. He is a former senior vice president and co-founder of Franklin Quest and was a consultant for Collier Heinz & Associates. He has served as president of the Uruguay Montevideo Mission, and as a high councilor, bishop, bishop's counselor and ward executive secretary. He has a bachelor's degree from Utah State University and a master's degree from American Graduate School of International Management. He and his wife, Jan Nielson Robbins, are the parents of seven children.
Elder Lance B. Wickman
Elder Lance B. Wickman, 53, was called to the Second Quorum of the Seventy in 1994. He is a former lawyer in San Diego, Calif. He is a native of Seattle, Wash., a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, and earned his law degree from Stanford University. He has served as a bishop, high councilor, stake president and regional representative. He has also served as president of the Boy Scouts of America Desert Pacific Council. He and his wife, Patricia Farr Wickman, have five children, one of whom is deceased.

Elder Douglas L. Callister
Elder Douglas L. Callister, 61, La Canada, Calif., who has been serving as an Area Authority Seventy and member of the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy since 1996. He owns and operates his own law firm. He has served as a regional representative, stake president, bishop and full-time missionary. He earned a bachelor's degree from BYU, a law degree from the University of South California and pursued advanced legal studies at Harvard. He and his wife, Jeannette McKibben Callister, are the parents of six children.
Elder Darwin B. Christenson
Elder Darwin B. Christenson, 64, Idaho Falls, Idaho, was in the Sunday School presidency of his ward and a temple recorder at the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple at the time of his call as a General Authority. Before retiring, he worked as a tax specialist for the Church. He has served the Church as a mission president, Member-Missionary Advisory Committee member, stake president's counselor, bishop, high councilor, stake Young Men president, gospel doctrine teacher and full-time missionary. He and his wife, Sandra Joelene Lyon Christenson, are the parents of four children, three living.
Elder Keith Crockett
Elder Keith Crockett, 66, Pima, Ariz., is retired after a career in teaching and administration for the Church Educational System. At the time of his call to the Seventy, he was the executive secretary in his ward. He is a former temple ordinance worker, mission president, stake extraction coordinator, stake president, stake president's counselor, high councilor and full-time missionary. He has a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Arizona and pursued advanced educational administration studies at Northern Arizona University. He and his wife, Kathleen McBride Crockett, have six children.
Elder H. Aldridge Gillespie
Elder H. Aldridge Gillespie, 64, Manti, Utah, is president of the Mexico Tampico Mission. Before his call to serve in Mexico, he was director of the U.S. Department of Transportation, Transportation Safety Institute. His Church service includes callings as a regional representative, patriarch, stake president, bishop, mission president's counselor and full-time missionary. He has a bachelor's and master's degree from Utah State University and a doctorate from the University of Arizona. He and his wife, Virginia Ann Larsen Gillespie, are the parents of five children.
Elder Robert C. Oaks
Elder Robert C. Oaks, 64, Sewickley, Pa., is presently serving as a stake president. Retired, he is former senior vice president of Operations at US Airways. He has had a distinguished military career as a commander in the U.S. Air Force. He has served the Church as a gospel doctrine teacher, district president's counselor, high councilor, mission president's counselor, Young Men president, bishop's counselor and stake missionary. He has a bachelor's degree from the Air Force Academy and a master's degree from Ohio State University. He and his wife, Gloria Unger Oaks, have six children.
