Due to political unrest, eight LDS missionaries serving in the Solomon Islands have been evacuated to the Australia Brisbane Mission. The eight missionaries include six young men and one senior couple. They were evacuated by ship along with Australian citizens in the area.

The U.S. State Department on June 8 urged U.S. citizens living in the Solomon Islands to consider leaving and told other Americans to delay travel to the troubled South Pacific country.
In a travel warning the State Department cited a coup attempt on June 5 in the capital Honiara on the main island of Guadalcanal and an increase in violence between rival militant groups.
