Peggy Joyce and Henry Jerrell Chesney

Henry Jerrell Chesney, 67, of the Shawnee Ward, Norman Oklahoma Stake, called as the president of the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple, which will be dedicated July 30, 2000. President Chesney's wife, Peggy Joyce Bergman Chesney, will serve as temple matron. President Chesney has served as temple planning committee coordinator, a temple ordinance worker, counselor in mission presidency, stake president and bishop.

The chief executive officer emeritus of the board of regents for Oklahoma State University and the Oklahoma A&M Colleges, he received a bachelor's degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and completed a master's degree and advanced graduate studies from the University of Oklahoma. He was born in Rocky, Okla., to Charles E. and Edna Geneva Sanders Chesney. Sister Chesney was ward Primary president, temple ordinance worker, seminary teacher, gospel doctrine teacher and Relief Society president. She was born in Levelland, Texas, to Wm. Bill and Ora Howard Bergman.
