The offices of the First Presidency and other General Authorities were moved from the Church Administration Building to the new Church Office Building the week of July 7, 1975, according to the July 12, 1975, Church News.
"The Administration Building, which was opened in 1917 during the administration of President Joseph F. Smith, will be remodeled during the next two years," the article stated.
It continued, "A new freight elevator and enclosed stairways will be added to the Administration Building and air conditioning and other services will be improved before the General Authorities move back into it."
Temporarily, the offices of the First Presidency were located on the 25th floor of the Church Office Building, the Quorum of the Twelve and the Assistants to the Twelve on the 19th floor, and the Presiding Bishopric on the 18th floor.
The office building was scheduled to be dedicated by President Spencer W. Kimball on July 24, 1975.
