The three musical ensembles at Temple Square have announced their
2000-2001 concert series.
The three groups — the Tabernacle Choir, the Orchestra at Temple Square and the Temple Square Chorale — will perform nine local concerts September 2000 through April 2001.
The season opens Saturday, Sept. 16, in the Salt Lake Tabernacle with Barlow Bradford conducting the 100-member Orchestra at Temple Square. The orchestra will perform Brahms' Second Symphony followed by Tchaikovsky's beloved "Serenade for Strings" conducted by guest concertmaster Igor Gruppman.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Tabernacle. All guests are welcome, age 8 years and older. Admission is free of charge, and no tickets are required.
The Tabernacle Choir also announced its popular Christmas concert to take place for the first time this year in the 21,000-seat Conference Center on Saturday, Dec. 16. The choir and the Orchestra at Temple Square will perform together at the concert. Tickets are required for the concert, but they are free of charge. Christmas concert tickets will be available beginning Tuesday, Oct. 17, at the Conference Center ticket office, door number 4, and at other Utah locations to be announced. The Conference Center ticket office will be open Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sept. 16: Orchestra at Temple Square, Salt Lake Tabernacle; Brahms - Symphony #2, Barlow Bradford, director; Tchaikovsky - "Serenade for Strings," guest conductor Igor Gruppman.
Oct. 13: Temple Square Chorale and Orchestra at Temple Square, Assembly Hall; Honegger - "King David;" Mack Wilberg, director.
Oct. 14: Temple Square Chorale and Orchestra at Temple Square; Libby Gardner Concert Hall, University of Utah campus; Honegger - "King David;" Mack Wilberg, director.
Nov. 18: Orchestra at Temple Square, Salt Lake Tabernacle; Strauss - Horn Concerto; Barlow Bradford, director; Lawrence Lyon, guest soloist.
Dec. 16: Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square, Conference Center; Christmas Concert; Craig Jessop, director.
January 13: Orchestra at Temple Square, Salt Lake Tabernacle; Dvorak - Symphony #9; Rachmanninoff - Piano Concerto #2; Barlow Bradford, director.
March 10: Orchestra at Temple Square, Salt Lake Tabernacle; Mahler - Symphony #4; Barlow Bradford, director.
March 23: Temple Square Chorale and Orchestra at Temple Square; Assembly Hall; Mack Wilberg, director.
April 14: Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square, Salt Lake Tabernacle; Cundick- "The Redeemer;" Barlow Bradford, director.
