The subject of repentance is widely misunderstood and often feared. Some feel it is only for those with serious transgressions. But repentance it is for everyone. It is not optional. Everyone is commanded to repent.
"Why has our Father, and his Son, commanded us to repent? Because they love us. . .Are you taking full advantage of the redeeming power of repentance in your life so that you can have greater peace and joy?"
There are several steps to repentance. Formulas have even been crafted to help people remember them. But the fundamental aspect of repentance is it is "centered in Jesus Christ and his atonement."
If you have repented of serious transgression, do not feel you must be a second-class citizen in the kingdom of God. If you have sincerely repented yet continue to feel guilty, such feelings are prompted by the "master of deceit."
"I testify that Jesus Christ paid the price and satisfied the demands of justice for all who are obedient to His teachings."
You can cast off guilt, overcome depression and find peace through repentance. Go to a worthy friend, an understanding parent, a bishop or stake president for help.
"Please come back. We love you. We need you. Follow the path to peace and joy through complete repentance. The Savior will help you obtain forgiveness. . .He is the Redeemer. I testify that He lives."
