The First Presidency has called seven new Missionary Training Center
presidents who will begin their service in January 2001.
The new leaders and their wives are Larry and Georgia Lee Hanks, E.
Jerald and Joan Haws, Donald E. and Beverly P. Jacobson, Blaine P. and
Clarice T. Jensen, Colin H. and Nancy J. Miller, Lowell M. and Marie K.
Taylor, and David B. and Anne G. Wirthlin.
Georgia Lee and Larry B. Hanks
Larry Berkley Hanks, 60, Union 1st Ward,
Sandy Utah Cottonwood Creek Stake; assigned to Brazil; is a former
president of the
Brazil Brasilia Mission, counselor in stake presidency,
high councilor, teacher development instructor and Young Men president. He
received a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University and master's
degree from American College and was financial planner for MassMutual. He
was born Sept. 25, 1940, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Victor and Marjorie
Hanks. He married
Georgia Lee Gammett. They
are parents of seven children.
E. Jerald and Joan
Haws
E. Jerald Haws, 65, Santa Barbara 2nd
Ward, Santa Barbara California Stake; assigned to Spain; is a former
mission president, stake president, high councilor, bishop, stake Young Men
president and institute instructor. He received a bachelor's degree from
University of California at Santa Barbara and Juris Doctorate from the
University of California at Berkeley and was an attorney for Haws, Record,
Williford and Magnusson. He was born Nov.5, 1935, in Bell, Calif., to Karl
Nelbert and Wanda E. Tremelling Haws. He married
Joan Haws. They are parents of five children.
Donald E. and Beverly P.
Jacobson
Donald Evans Jacobson, 60, Yuma 9th Ward,
Yuma Arizona Stake; assigned to Mexico; is a former mission president,
stake president, patriarch, high councilor, bishop and counselor. He is
president of The Jacobsen Companies. He was born Jan. 14, 1940, in Tucson,
Ariz., to Carl Cecil and Helen Pearl Tanner Jacobson. He married
Beverly Price. They are parents of six children.
Blaine P. and Clarice T.
Jensen
Blaine Parley Jensen, 67, Pleasant View
5th Ward, Provo Utah Sharon East Stake; assigned to England; has served as
regional representative, mission president, counselor in stake presidency,
temple sealer, bishop and humanitarian missionary. He received a bachelor's
degree from Utah State University and master's degree from BYU. He is
retired after serving as director of Administration of International
Affairs for the Church. He served 20 years in the U.S. Army. He was born
April 22, 1933, in Boise, Idaho, to Norris Parley and Lillian Loveland
Jensen. He married
Clarice Talbot. They are
parents of four children.
Colin H. and Nancy J.
Miller
Colin Harris Miller, 68, Bountiful 34th
Ward, Bountiful Utah Heights Stake, assigned to Colombia; he has served as
mission president, bishop, high councilor, high priest group leader and
stake mission president. He is self-employed and has worked as vice
president of Development Funding Corp. He earned a bachelor's degree from
BYU. He was born Sept. 7, 1932, to Douglas and Annie Elizabeth Harris
Miller. He married
Nancy Josephine. They are
parents of four children.

Taylor
Lowell Moon Taylor, 69, Kaysville 8th
Ward, Kaysville Utah Central Stake; assigned to Philippines; he has served
as mission president, patriarch, high councilor and bishop. He was
self-employed before retirement. He was also a salesman and supply officer
in the U.S. Air Force. He received a bachelor's degree from the University
of Utah. He was born Jan. 24, 1931, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Nephi
Welling and Drucilla Moon Taylor
. He married
Marie King. They are parents of five
children.
David B. and Anne G.
Wirthlin
David B. Wirthlin, 65, Monument Park 17th
Ward, Salt Lake Monument Park North Stake, assigned to Provo; he has served
as mission president, stake president, bishop, high councilor, gospel
doctrine teacher and stake mission president. He was a hospital
administrator for Intermountain Health Care before retirement. He received
a bachelor's degree from the University of Utah and master's degree from
the University of Minnesota. He was born Sept. 19, 1935, to Elder Joseph B.
and Madeline Bitner Wirthlin. He married Anne
Goalen. They are parents of six children.
