The St. George Utah Temple was rededicated by President Spencer W. Kimball in six sessions on Nov. 11-12, the Nov. 15, 1975, Church News reported. Originally dedicated in 1877, the temple was extensively remodeled prior to the rededication.
More than 25,000 Church members attended the sessions.
The article stated: "In his remarks, President Kimball gave a brief history of the planning and building of the St. George Temple and referred to the extreme sacrifice of the people who settled southern Utah and built a temple in answer to a call of President Brigham Young."
President Kimball's counselors, President N. Eldon Tanner and President Marion G. Romney also participated in the dedication along with President Ezra Taft Benson, President of the Quorum of the Twelve, and many other General Authorities.
The services were conducted in the temple's priesthood assembly room with others in attendance viewing the proceedings on closed circuit television in other rooms of the temple.
