OAKLAND, CALIF.— The auditorium of Temple Hill here hosted an overflow audience of 3,500 people eager to hear Gladys Knight's testimony and music.
President Richard DeVries of the California Oakland Mission said he has not spoken to anyone who attended "An Evening with Gladys Knight and Family" who was not deeply touched.
Introduced by her daughter Kenya Jackson, who was instrumental in her mother's conversion, Sister Knight captivated the audience with her insight. She cautioned young people to take on eternal principles, dress modestly, keep their bodies as a temple, stay on the straight and narrow, keep the Sabbath day holy and not to be complacent. She also spoke of the power of prayer. "[Heavenly Father] sees much further than we do," she said. "I am so glad to be able to recognize His hand in all things."
