ROCHESTER, Minn. — Ashton Buswell, a Ricks College freshman from Ogden, Utah, and Ryan Hansen, a Ricks college sophomore from Idaho Falls, Idaho, brought home national wrestling championship trophies following the junior college finals at Rochester, Minn., Feb. 17. It was only the second time Ricks College had more than one wrestling national champion at the end of a season.

As a team the Vikings placed third behind North Idaho and Iowa Central, despite amassing the most number of points ever at the national finals.

The third-place finish equals last year's national finish. The Vikings have now placed in the top ten nationally the past six years. North Idaho dominated with 152 points to Iowa Central's 113 1/2 and Ricks' 108 1/2. Last year Ricks placed third with only 93 points. In all, Ricks had seven wrestlers earn All-American designation.

In addition to Ashton, a 157-pounder, and Ryan, a heavyweight, others placing were Nate Ploehn and Travis Marx, both third, and Ty Rollins (fifth), Jeremy Lewis (sixth) and Andy Messersmith (seventh).
