Eight new mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency. The mission presidents and their wives will begin their service about July 1. Here are their names and biographical information. New mission presidents and their assignments were announced in the March 10th issue.
Jay R. and Kathleen R. Bangerter
Jay Ronald Bangerter, 49, West Bountiful 1st
Ward, Bountiful Utah Stone Creek Stake; will preside over the Korea Seoul
West Mission; owner of Bangerter & Associates CPA firm; earned a bachelor's
degree in accounting from the University of Utah; born in Salt Lake City,
Utah, to Ronald LaMar and Jean Winegar Bangerter. Married Kathleen Rich; five children. She studied art at
Weber State College; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Clifford Archie and
Eileen Simonson Rich.
Rene B. and Bruce B. Bowen
Bruce Briggs Bowen, 61, East Millcreek 4th
Ward, Salt Lake East Millcreek Stake; will preside over the England Leeds
Mission; financial adviser and senior vice president for Paine Webber in
Salt Lake City; earned bachelor's and master's degrees of business
administration from the University of Utah; born in Spanish Fork, Utah, to
Wendell Miller and Marba Jennie Briggs Bowen. Married Rene Brooksby; four children. She earned bachelor's
degree in elementary education from Brigham Young University; born in
Fredonia, Ariz., to Arland Joseph and Kezia Ann Stark Brooksby.
Linda P. and Thomas B. Brighton
Thomas B. Brighton, 58, Salem 11th Ward,
Salem Utah Stake; will preside over the Ireland Dublin Mission; manager of
market development for Pactiv; earned bachelor's degree in business from
Brigham Young University, and master's of business of administration from
Northwestern University; born in Melrose Park, Ill., to Kenneth W. and
Florence Elizabeth Thody Brighton. Married Linda
Elizabeth Paaso; five children. She earned a bachelor's degree in
history from Brigham Young University; born in Fort Lewis, Wash., to Sulo
and Margaret Elizabeth Corrigan Paaso.
Scott W. and Christine C. Cameron
Scott Wallace Cameron, 54, Pleasant View 8th
Ward, Provo Utah Sharon East Stake; will preside over the Pennsylvania
Pittsburgh Mission; associate dean of Brigham Young University Law School;
earned juris doctor from Brigham Young University, master's degree in
education and bachelor's degree in English from Stanford University; born
in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Emmett Halliday and Rosetta Woods Wallace
Cameron. Married Christine Cannon; six
children. She earned a bachelor's degree in university studies from Brigham
Young University; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Quayle Jr. and Dorothy
Fay Allred Cannon.
Douglas M. and Sharon Ann Clifford
Douglas Marvin Clifford, 57, Pleasant View
6th Ward, Pleasant View Utah Stake; will preside over the Wisconsin
Milwaukee Mission; part-time faculty member at Brigham Young University and
consultant after working as vice president of engineering for Iomega;
earned master's of business administration degree from University of Santa
Clara, Colorado State University, master's degree of electronic engineering
at Stanford University and bachelor's degree of electronic engineering at
Duke University; born in Safford, Ariz., to Marvin Henry and Genevie Layton
Clifford. Married Sharon Ann Decker; five
children. She studied at Colorado State University and was born in Kansas
City, Mo., to Frank Edwin and Adeline Rosalie Gebhart Decker.
Jon L. and Leslie M. Henderson
Jon Lane Henderson, 42, Salem 10th Ward,
Salem Utah West Stake; will preside over the Italy Milan Mission; owner of
J-Mart Publishing, publisher of Spanish Fork Press; studied business at
Brigham Young University; born in Provo, Utah, to John Calvin and Maureen
Abildskov Henderson. Married Leslie Kay
Money; five children. She studied at Weber State College; born in
Payson, Utah, to Eldon A. and Sharlene Swenson Money.
L. Michael and Sharon M. Keone
Leroy Michael Keone, 61, Oak Hills 9th Ward,
Provo Utah Oak Hills Stake; will preside over the Philippines Quezon City
Mission; senior vice president of New York Life Insurance Co., in
California; earned bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the
University of Hawaii; born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Alexander Henry and Amoe
LeiIlima AhMook Sanq Keone. Married Sharon
McCurdy; five children. She earned an associate's degree in
education from Boise Junior College; born in Boise, Idaho, to Glenn Emmett
and Leda Pearl Dawson McCurdy.
Amelia A. and Nigel G. Wappett
Nigel George Wappett, 52, Fairbanks 3rd Ward, Fairbanks Alaska Stake; will preside over the Arizona Phoenix Mission; obstetrician/gynecologist; earned medical degree from the University of Utah College of Medicine and bachelor's degree in zoology and chemistry from Brigham Young University; born in Sedgefield, England, to George and Violet Dinsdale Wappett. Married Amelia Avalon Anderson; five children. She earned a bachelor's degree in social work from Brigham Young University; born in Shelley, Idaho, to Arlan Lewis and Dorotha Fae Christensen Anderson.
