REXBURG, Idaho — The NJCAA announced March 13 that Ricks College has won Academic National Championships in women's cross country, men's cross country and football.

In women's cross country, the Lady Vikings earned a 3.75 GPA as a team. Runners Kathrine Anderson of Fruit Heights, Utah, Angie Benson of Orem, Utah, and Tasha Ellis of Hamer, Idaho, all posted GPA's of 4.0. The mens' cross country team, which won the national championship in 2000, earned a team GPA of 3.47, led by Josh Gunn of Provo, Utah, with a 3.94 GPA. The Viking football team was the only NJCAA football team to carry a team GPA over 3.00. Ricks came in at 3.11, led by Pat Williams of Bountiful at 3.927, and David Cousins of Idaho Falls at 3.925.
