I-15 open for weekend; TRAX to start early for conference

The main line of the I-15 reconstruction corridor will remain open this weekend, although parts of I-80 and U-201 will close. TRAX light rail service will also start earlier than normal on Sunday.
The I-15 corridor has been closed the past two weekends, but this weekend workers will focus on the spaghetti bowl junction near 2100 South.
Beginning at 10 p.m. today and continuing until Sunday at 6 a.m., crews will close I-80 from 700 East to I-15 and U-201 from I-15 to Redwood Road. All connections between I-15 and those two highways in the spaghetti bowl junction will be closed as well.
The Utah Transit Authority will begin TRAX light-rail service at 7 a.m. Sunday, three hours earlier than normal. Trains will run every 20 minutes throughout the day. The last train making the full 15-mile run will leave the Delta Center at 11 p.m. A train to Midvale will depart at 11:20 p.m. For more information, call RIDE-UTA (743-3882).
Next weekend, the Utah Department of Transportation will again close most of the I-15 corridor from Friday night until Monday morning.
When the freeway reopens April 9, the I-15 onramps now at 400 South will be shifted to 500 South so crews can prepare 400 South to handle the new high-occupancy vehicle lanes.
