God parted the Red Sea, gave His people the Book of Mormon; He heals their sins and blesses His children — He continues to be a "God of miracles," Sister Sydney S. Reynolds said at the Saturday morning session of conference.

"In this dispensation we witness the great miracle of the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth," said Sister Reynolds, first counselor in the Primary General Presidency. "It began when a young boy entered the grove of trees near Palmyra, N.Y., and poured out his heart and his questions to a God he believed could answer him — the God of miracles."

Sister Reynolds said life's small, private miracles are just as important as "mighty miracles" because they teach people to have faith in the Lord.

"These come as we recognize and heed the promptings of the Spirit in our lives," she said.

All can bear witness to these small miracles.

"We know children who pray for help to find a lost item, and find it," Sister Reynolds said. "We know of young people who gather the courage to stand as a witness of God and feel His sustaining hand. We know friends who pay their tithing with the last of their money and then, through a miracle, find themselves able to pay their tuition, or their rent or somehow obtain for for their family."

Sister Reynolds said her own family has recently witnessed the Lord's miraculous hand. Her twin grandchildren were born premature and had to fight to survive. In time, the baby boy gained weight and strength and was released from the hospital. His twin sister continued to struggle.

Sister Reynolds and her family gathered for a special fast, asking the Lord for a miracle if it was His will. Soon, the tiny child gained the health she needed to leave the doctors' care and join her twin brother at home.

"Our family has had its own 'parting of the Red Sea,' " she said. "We are prepared to testify that there is today, as there was yesterday, and will be forever, a 'God of miracles' who loves His children and desires to bless them."
