Family: Born June 1, 1952, in Johannesburg, South Africa, to Christoffel and Maria S. Oosthuisen Golden; married Diane Norma Hulbert Dec. 12, 1981, in Johannesburg; they were sealed in the London England Temple three days later on Dec. 15, 1981; four children, Rene, 17, Christopher, 16, Chanel, 14, and Camilla, 11.

Education: Received bachelor's degree in political science and post graduate honors degree in international politics from the University of South Africa.

Employment: Varied business background including work for Barclays National Bank, Trust Bank and Servier Laboratories, and ownership of Meridian Optics Company; currently Church Educational System area director for Africa Southeast Area.

Church service: Area Authority Seventy for the Africa Southeast Area, stake president and counselor, bishop, elders quorum president, ward mission leader, institute teacher, ward and stake young single adult leader, ward and stake Young Men president and full-time missionary in South Africa.
