Family: Born Dec. 6, 1943, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Fritz and Hulda Hanel Steuer; raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Las Vegas, Nev.; married Margaret Black, daughter of Kimball C. and Caroline Nielson Black, June 21, 1971, in the Logan Utah Temple; five children: David (Callie), 28; Brittany (Stephen) Reagan, 27; Michael, 26; Caroline (Danny) Bower, 24; Matthew, 21.
Education: Received bachelor's degree in chemistry and medical degree from the University of Minnesota; internship at Santa Clara County Hospital in California; residency at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City.
Employment: Practiced medicine for four years, did research developing medical electronic diagnostic devices; founder and chairman ofHemaMetrics.
Church service: President of Brazil Sao Paulo North Mission, 1984-87; stake mission president, stake Young Men presidency, high councilor, bishop, elder's quorum presidency, stake Institute of Religion instructor, most recently ward mission leader; full-time mission to Brazil.
