JAKARTA, Indonesia — A seminar on art and religion, in conjunction with the annual Jak Art Festival in Jakarta included a presentation by BYU professor Kenneth Crossley. The seminar, "Interreligious Dialogue on Art and Religion: Vehicle for Creating World Peace," drew participation from many different religions in late June.
Brother Crossley spoke of the cultural heritage of the Church to those attending in the Hotel Atlet Century Park. He also spoke of the violence that is invading society, especially among children, many of whom do not have enough experience with beautiful things. He said that the arts give people experience in creativity, discovery and self expression.
At the final evening of the seminar, the presentation included a video of the Tabernacle Choir and a choir from BYU projected onto a large screen.
