President Thomas S. Monson, first counselor in the First Presidency, celebrated his 74th birthday Aug. 21. It was a work day as usual, with an interlude mid-afternoon for an expression of birthday greetings from his colleagues in the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve, as well as from the First Presidency office staff. He and his wife, Frances, celebrated that evening at home with their children and grandchildren.
